Emma is 5

Happy Birthday Emma!

The Binkie Dilema of 2008

Sam found one of Emma’s old binkie’s.  She is so tiny that the gerber nuks have always been her favorite.  Now that she is bigger, she can handle the other kinds.  She is currently trying them out.  A few sucks here and a few sucks there.  I think the gerger nuk might win.

Welcome to winter.  It is now snowing in Logan.  It isn’t sticking yet.  I will take pictures if and when it does.  Luckily Eric got the hoses off the lawn when I was at my luncheon yesterday.

Yesterday I rode up to Pocatello with my manager and 2 other associates.  It was for a luncheon to recognize that we had been with the company for 5 years.  We ate at this tiny Italian place called Remo’s.  It was so yummy!  On the ride we found out that one of our old assistant managers will be coming back to stay at the end of December!  Can’t wait!  For the first time in a long time we will have a full team of managers and they will all be awesome!  Can’t tell you my excitement.  We get a new manager in 2 weeks from the pocatello store.  From what we here, he is awesome and he should fit really well with this store!

Also on the ride, I finished 2 more charts in Tina’s Shawl.  I got to a point that I would have to move the stitch markers so I put the shawl away and worked on Eric’s socks.  They may end up being a christmas present.  He has huge feet and I just don’t want to do them!  I will be doing several pairs of baby socks in order to get over the length it takes to make his socks.

Can I throw a tantrum too!

Emma decided to throw a tantrum just now.  She got all her toys taken away and her books, and the playroom for 2 days and coming downstairs for game night.  I am at my wits end.  I have no clue how to get her to stop.  nothing phases this kid.  If we get put on time out we scream, if we get things taken away we scream.  Any ideas?  I am wound up so tight that I want to throw a tantrum too.  Good thing I get to go to the yarn shop in a few hours.  Sorry Tina, your shawl pattern might get the brunt of my frustration.  By the way, the shawl is progressing very well.  Though I did have to fudge it again.

I promise not to touch it until knit night when I have had some time to calm down.

I am a slacker!

So, I didn’t get my stuff posted yesterday…

Saturday night after Wii at Britta’s, I had a panic attack about all those people who I would have to face at confrence.  I told Eric to find someone to go with him.  He took his brother Seth.  They had a great time and I was able to relax and listen to confrence.  It has just been the past year or so, but I have found crowds uncomfortable.  After the first session, we got an updated picture of all the pace grandkids.

SP 12

I got spoilled!  My pal was Kimberly at

I am in love with it all!  I am really excited about the cotton because I want to get better at spinning cotton and I didn’t find any I liked at Great Basin this weekend.  I will post about that tomorrow!  I only posted this tonight because I was so excited!  Thank you Kimberly!

Great Basin FDiber Arts Fair

Great Basin was fun, my non-spinner friend met me there.  She is no longer my non spinner friend.  She bought a drop spindle and some roving.  She now hates me, not really, but it is one more craft avenue and she loves it.  She is still spinning some chunky yarn, but it is consistant.  By the end of the day it was getting finer as well.

I brought home a haul of roving and I bought some yarn on cones from an estate sell.  It is weaving yarn, but it is think enough for a decent size lace knitting.  I don’t like to use cobweb lace yarn.  I will take pictures and post them when we get home.

It rained and the wind blew all day, but under the pavillion we it was nice.  Toward the afternoon the wind picked up so we packed up and relocated to my in-laws house.

About the time Kami had to take off, we went over to Britta’s and had french toast, eggs and bacon.  Then we played Wii Fit.  There was an entire session of family aerobic stepping.  I took pictures and knit.  I didn’t sleep well last night so I was tired.  I never sleep well when I am not at home.  I have video of the boys aerobic stepping on my phone, but it is not compatible with wordpress so when I figure out how to import it I will.  It is quite humorous!

Sam is insanely tired and fighting it so I will end the post here, wish me luck in getting her to bed!

Grandpa’s 93rd Birthday

We had my grandfather’s 93rd birthday party at Golden Coral tonight.  It was fun and most everyone was there. The yarn is some yarn that I won last night at knitting night, I wound it in the car and I am making another Fern Lace Hat.  The line up of cars was the BYU fans on the way to the game in Logan.  They were lined up from the light in Brigham to I-15.  Glad we were headed the other way.  We brought Eric’s laptop instead of mine because my battery is going bad and doesn’t last long.  Well, because of bloging I left my SD card for the camera in my laptop.  My brother-in-law had some with his camera.  So I am borrowing one from him so that I can actually take pictures this weekend.  We were going to stop by wal-mart to buy one.  Now I don’t have to dip into my Great Basin Fund.  Thank you Kyle!

Felted Clogs and Hair

Emma actually let me do her hair today and I felted her clogs.  Don’t tell her that they are for her, they are a christmas present and she still hasn’t figured it out.

If you want to make an adult hat use worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles.  Work in pattern until hat reaches 6 inches then start the decreases.

I created this pattern because I couldn’t find a ribbed hat pattern that I liked the decreases on.  I might have lost some hair in the process.  I frogged several times to figure this out.  Just ask the husband.
