Birthday Cake

Emma was so hesitant to touch her cake that is kindof surprised us that Sam dove right in.

Busy Day

The day started early.  I nursed Sam and gave her to Eric to cuddle.  I went out to the bathroom and Kami was upstairs (she came in last night and stayed the night) looking for help on her first pair of socks.

Kami and I made hot cocoa and went downstairs to knit.  I worked on my socks and helped her understand hers.

We also made me a sock bag like hers.

I got to play with my new camera today!  Jamie, I really like it.  Check out dell.com for better prices on it if you buy one because we got a good deal!  Better than Inkley’s sale.

My old manager had comissioned a hat and called just as I was going to start cutting Eric’s hair.  We cleaned the front room and waited for her to pick up her hat and then we started.

I won’t cut his hair in the house and he has to clean it up!

Sam was a little concerned.

Now we just need to trim the goatee.

By the time we got around to all of this, it was 2 O’clock.  We made cheese bread and then took off to Joann’s for some girl time and shopping.

Next we ran home and picked up Emma.  We went to Wal-mart, picked up Sammie’s cake and did some more shopping.  We didn’t find the clasps Kami needed so we went to Hobby Lobby.  They were sold out of the clasps so off to Micheals we went!  Finally, they had some.  Then with only and hour to spare, we went home.  Before any of the guests arrived, another person picked up there commission item.

Next came the party guests:

It is late and I need to get to bed.  I will finish posting tomorrow.  I must say, I hate Vista!  I can only upload one photo at a time.  It has taken me 2 hours or more to do this post!

Look who’s one.

Samantha is one today!

It took 5 pictures to get this picture!  My new camera is sitting less than 10 feet from me and the battery is charged, but it is a Christmas present.  Hey Eric, I will let you have your book that you want before Christmas if I can use my  new camera.  It is the Nikon d40.  It is an SLR camera.  It takes pictures instantaneously, there is no wait time while the picture saves, and it automatically adjusts settings for the light!  I want to use it so bad!

Gloves vs. Mittens

In our house Emma loves mittens, and Sam loves gloves.   Sam will rip off her mittens but has no problem keeping the gloves on.

Ignore the stains, they were Emma’s first.

Last night, when I got home from work, I went through a bin of Emma’s old clothes looking for boots for Samantha, didn’t find them, but I did find these:

Bear Slippers

Bear Slippers

We have been wearing these quite happily since last night.  Granted I took them off her for bed, but she wanted them back on this morning.  I think one year olds are my favorite age.

Off to do laundry, we will see how much I get done with my little helper.

My baby is getting big!

Sam will be one on Friday.  It hardly seems that a year has past since she was placed in my arms.  It took so much to get her here that she is a little spoiled.  Four months before I got pregnant with Sam I miscarried, (Runs in the family come to find out, thanks for telling me).  I was determined not to give up.  When I was about 6 weeks pregnant with, I started cramping.  I called the doctor and got in with the on call doctor.  Everything was fine, in fact, Sam’s heart beat was strong for 6 weeks.  When I was 14 weeks along, I spotted and started cramping again, by now Sam was pretty active, so I wasn’t too worried.  Come to find out, she had kicked some of my placenta loose, but it wasn’t enough to worry about.  Everything went fine until 34 weeks, when she put me into labor around bedtime.  We had just gotten Emma to sleep and Eric asked me, “Are we sure we have to go to the hospital?”  Just like a man.  I told him yes.  We got there, they stopped my labor and released me 2 hours later.  Then November 21, our little Sam was ready to come.  I walked into the Hospital and they got me hooked up to the machines and monitered me for 2 hours, no pain killers.  Then they told me that even though I wasn’t dialating, I was in fact in labor (You think?!).  Next they had me WALK down to the OR and they prepared me for my C-section (Emma was breached so I opted for a planned c-section with Sam).  My doctor had checked out for her Thanksgiving, so the on call doctor delivered me.  I was quite nervous.  Luckily the assisting surgeon was the one who helped with Emma so I felt a bit better.  Then a little after 8, my little Sam was born.  Such a tiny little thing at 5 lbs 15 oz. and 18.5 inches long.  She still remains tiny, but she is following in the footsteps of her mom.  She Even kicked Daddy this morning when she was snoring.  Just like mom.  She is mommy’s little girl.  Emma is devoted to Eric, by Sammie belongs to mommy.

Speaking of spoiled.  Most of the time, she sleeps in our bed, because Eric doesn’t wake up and I am the one in charge in the middle of the night.  Emma was never in our bed.  I know I need to curb it, but I am sick of getting out of bed every 2 hours to get her back to sleep.  I have hopes for her to someday sleep through the night.

They are done!

I finally finished Eric’s socks!  I started them back in July.  Socks never take me this long!  He has size 11 feet.  I finished them last night, but I wouldn’t let him wear them until I get to parade them around spinners and knitting night.  I have to show proof that I finally finished them.

Yeah Samantha!

Sam finally cut her first tooth!  If I could get her to open her mouth wide enough, I would take a picture, but so far she won’t do it.
